This is an absolute favourite of ours as a day to day incense. You will recognize good quality by its grayish colour and strong earthy scent, which is evident even before the incense is burned. The heady fragrance became part of the concert experience for millions of music fans and is still beloved by many today. Nag Champa became popular in modern Western Culture in the 60’s and 70’s when burned at the performances of Dylan, The Grateful Dead, and others. It is considered to be sacred to the Hindu god Vishnu and is traditionally burned for meditation ceremonies.

In India this beautiful and shady evergreen tree is revered, and often planted on the grounds of Hindu Temples or Ashrams. Probably the most popular hand rolled incense worldwide, the unique scent of Nag Champa is derived primarily from the Champaca flower, (Magnolia Champaca tree), Halmaddi (Ailanthus Malabarica tree) and Sandalwood, along with other natural resins and herbs. Cultivated as a sacred plant, the Champaca can be found throughout India, Vietnam, parts of China, and other tropical lands of Asia. Developed by Indian spiritual teacher Sathya Sai Baba, Nag Champa is an aromatic, restorative blend of resins, gums, spices, flowers and oils, perfect for everyday use. Nag Champa is sweet & long lasting, made with the bright and intoxicating flowers of the Champaca and hand-rolled onto a bamboo stick.
